"Where are my father's cancer results? Is he dying?"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital

My father had a large tumour removed from his bowel, and had a colostomy 4 weeks ago. In this time, he has had no information on this tumour, except to hear that it was malignant. None of the wards at the Royal Sussex County had a record of his surgeon, neither do any of the wards at the Princess Royal where he has been transferred. Given that there is a 10 day time limit to report information to patients, my father has been badly failed by the NHS.

Can anyone tell me if he's dying???

I'd love to hear. So would my father. And his wife. And his other daughters. And his grandchildren.

They all really hope he'll recover, but nobody knows, because of a blatant failure in communication by the NHS

I am very sorry to learn of your concerns, in order for us to take this matter forward we will need some further details.

Please can you or your father contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Team (PALS) on 01273 664511 or at pals@bsuh.nhs.uk in order for this matter to be looked into.

In the meantime I will share this feedback with the Divisional Leads and our PALS team so they are aware whilst we await patient details.

Kind regards

Jane Carmody
