"Disrespectful manner"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Services

(as the patient),

I have been waited to get an appointment with Gynaecologist since July this year. When I called to find out, where exactly I am on the list, I have been told I'm on the waiting list for consultation not to see Gynaecologist! It's beyond everything to wait for a simple internal scan, that you should have access every single year! This is first time I came across of such ridiculous situation! I informed my GP and also I went for private consultation here in UK, I have done all needed tests in my country, and show them all the results, and they were not even bothered as much, to look at them, and pay any attention to them. I was shocked when in the private clinic the Dr. could not even read the scan pictures that I brought with me! scandal! I spend £200 to find out completely nothing! I'm definitely coming back to my country, to get my treatment done, as I cannot trust doctors here in UK! Simple internal scans by Gynaecologist should be done even every 6 months if needed, I'm in UK for 10 years, and have never been at GP, never! Where is my money from NI that I'm paying every single month?! and I'm paying for what? Rediculous! Thank God I can go to my country at any time, to get everything done!

Above all, when I call Gynaecologist department in hospital, two times I experienced very unprofessional talk from receptionists or nurses, whoever works there. First time when I called to find out where I'm on the list, and found out I'm waiting for consultation, I got emotional and overwhelmed, one staff member started laughing at me!  the second time I called to find out, why I have been removed from the list without my knowledge - unfortunately didn't have a chance to ask for name - person practically screamed at me! and I have a record of that call!

Definitely I will not leave it that way, and personnel in Gynaecology X-Ray department will get a consequences! end of the day they are getting paid from my money!! I will not let anybody to talk to me in such disrespectful manner, especially people who should be there to help me!

No regards!

Dear Akiya

I am disappointed to hear that your experience of the manner of two members of staff to be unprofessional when you telephoned the hospital on two occasions. This is not behaviour we condone and I apologise that you were not treated with empathy when you telephoned and were overwhelmed and emotional. I will share your experience with the line managers for the relevant departments to convey to their staff.

Without your personal details I cannot access your particular circumstances since referral to the hospital. You are welcome to contact me by e-mail or telephone as detailed below and I can look into this further.

Again I apologise for the disrespectful attitude of the staff you have spoken to in the hospital.

Kind Regards

Margaret
