We brought my eight month old daughter into Harlow hospital towards the end of October 2018. She had a very high temperature, constantly being sick for more than 4 days, diarrhoea, no wet nappies and refusing any milk/food. She hadn't eaten properly in nearly a week and was very uncomfortable. My main concern for my young daughter was dehydration however, the triage nurse was quite dismissive I found and told us our daughter would be absolutely fine, that she wasn't dehydrated and that she was more than likely able to go home after seeing the doctor. As the nurse suspected she was "fine" we was put further down the line as a lower priority. In the time waiting to see a doctor I was trying to encourage my daughter to have her milk with no luck. As the time goes on which must have been approaching two/ three hours later, we finally get called to the doctor, the doctor then wanted to do some tests on my daughter as well as a sugar count.
Her sugar levels came back as critically low to the point where the doctors were now worried.... they took her blood and found she had a seriously high infection marker that needed antibiotics ASAP.
She was finally put on a drip and at around 3:30am was given antibiotics through a IV line. From arriving at the hospital to ending up in the children's ward it took roughly 8 hours to when my daughter deteriorated and was being treated for suspected sepsis. The care for my daughter on the ward didn't continue to get any better.
Unfortunately, we are not happy with the service that we received so from now on we shall be taking our daughter further afield if she requires hospital again in the future.
"Not the best experience!"
