"Appointments"

About: Askern Medical Practice

Today, 21/11/2018, at 10.15 am, as requested by the practice, I had blood samples taken in preparation for my medication review. I then called at reception to make an appointment to check the results with a doctor/nurse practitioner. I could hardly believe my ears to be told that the first available appointment was 24/12/2018, more than 1 month away, on Christmas Eve.

The receptionist was very apologetic and suggested perhaps I could leave it until after Christmas before making the appointment.

I fully appreciate that a medication review is not life threatening but it seems odd that I should be requested by the Practice to make an appointment and then not be able to, for over a month and as a consequence, could, suffer the inconvenience of only a reduced amount being available.

This experience doesn't seem to fit with the impression I get when I attend for my regular (Warfarin) blood tests when invariably, like today, the waiting room is empty.
