"To the members of staff who cared for my Papa:"

About: Ealing Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

Dear Team,

I would like to thank and praise everyone in A&E at Ealing Hospital who treated my father.

My brother and I brought my father into hospital just before midnight. His eye on his right side had a delayed opening and his mouth had become lopsided with slurred speech, with a BP of 238/134. We thought he was having a stoke.

We were seen immediately, triaged and sent to A&E. The Charge Nurse Mr Fernandes was just brilliant. He put us all at ease and knew exactly what to say and do. He was so thorough, warm and professional. He managed to take my dads bloods without him even noticing! I cannot speak more highly of this charge nurse, and I thank god that there are people like him working for the NHS.

My father was seen by an FY2 Dr Jain who was great too. He explained everything and was very patient with my dad, who hates hospitals and was scared stiff. We were then seen by the registrar (who’s name I do not know) who did more tests on my dad. I believe we were then seen by the consultant Abrahim? (I do not know his surname.) Abrahim was absolutely fantastic. He confirmed my dad’s diagnosis, Bells Palsy with a head CT, and took so much time to chat with him. He was in fact on his way home, but still he made sure my dad was given the correct treatment and reassured us that everything would be ok.

My father was discharged around 4am.

I can’t express how grateful I am that we were given such outstanding care. Ealing hospital’s A&E is a shining beacon in our NHS and I cannot be more grateful for the care my father received. The staff there are the most genuine and truly professional I have ever come across. I would be so happy if you could kindly pass my feedback on to the A&E department, and to the specific members of staff who cared for my Papa.

Much love and thanks,

Dear Ash14

Thank you for taking the time to share this really lovely feedback. I am glad to hear that your father was well looked after.

Since you were kind enough to mention particular staff, I thought I would let you know that our staff awards are currently open. If you would like to make a nomination, please visit: https://www.awards.lnwh.nhs.uk/. Meanwhile, I will pass your kind words on to the team in ED who will be delighted.

I hope your father is recovering well.

Best wishes

Sue

Hi Sue,

Thank you very much for your response and for passing my feedback on. My dad has hounded me all day, because I forgot to mention the porter who was working that night. He was so chilled out and wheeled everyone’s bed so gently and carefully. He was my dad’s favourite member of staff in A&E! They chatted away... Unfortunately I didn’t get his name. If you could pass this onto the department too, I would be very grateful. This porter really was the perfect person to chat to at a difficult time.

Thank you and warm wishes,

Ash14 x

Thank you again. I will of course pass this onto the porters who are often the unsung heroes in hospitals.

Your dad sounds like a great man to notice these little kindnesses when he must have been afraid for his own health.

Please send him my best wishes

Sue

So are you Ash, that really made me smile - thank you.

I wonder if I could trouble you to contact the patient experience team on LNWH-tr.PATIENTEXPERIENCE@nhs.net to let us know when you were at Ealing? We would really like to be able to make sure we share your feedback with the staff who looked after your dad.

Best wishes and thanks
