"Caring approach"

About: Royal Hampshire County Hospital / Accident and emergency

Our elderly mother who suffers from dementia was brought into A&E by ambulance as she had become very unwell in the nursing home where she is cared for.

Staff were very good at talking to our mother and explaining what they were doing. A cup of tea was provided when we we we said she hadn't drunk anything for ages.

A full review was undertaken despite her age and she was discharged back to the nursing home. They talked to the staff at the nursing home before discharging her.

We chose to take her back to the nursing home ourselves as it would save waiting for an ambulance and a very kind porter helped us with getting her to the entrance.

Overall impressed. Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about the care your mother received in our Emergency department. I have shared your comments with the teams who are always delighted to hear positive feedback.
