"Maternity unit"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Mary Rose Maternity Centre

in April I gave birth to my second son at QA's labour ward, having had my first in 2016.

Neither were ideal births - both induced and my second son had to have an assisted delivery.

However, I was absolutely delighted to have, through some strange twist of fate, the same wonderful midwife with me on both occasions.

She was just fantastic, as was the doctor who skillfully delivered my son.

I cannot thank either one of them enough for their support during what was a frightening and painful experience.

I was treated with kindness, dignity and respect by those present in the delivery room and all the other members of staff I encountered during my stay.

The maternity unit at QA is, in my experience, a truly wonderful place and I am so glad I was able to have my two boys there.

Thank you for the wonderful work you do under difficult circumstances and immense pressure.
