"Feeding"

About: Tiverton and District Hospital / Maternity care

On the whole a positive experience for my daughter who went to recover from a c section. Lovely midwives on night one and day one and who assisted with the breast feeding brilliantly. Sadly whole experience spoiled by midwife on night 2 who rather than let my daughter rest during the night kept coming in insisting she wake her baby to feed her every three hours so both baby and daughter got very upset - baby wasn’t hungry as she had had a good 40 minute feed before sleep and the night before slept and midwives not concerned. Midwife stripped baby off to wake her up so she screamed the place down and my daughter got about three hours sleep in total. if baby was hungry she would have woken up.

I would understand if baby not fed for hours but she had. So thanks to that midwife my daughter is now going home today, very upset, feeling a failure and has given up breastfeeding and put baby on a bottle / so well done midwife on night 2!
