"Creating a calmer atmosphere."

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I was there with my son on recently and had a very long wait to see a doctor, but all staff were excellent, particularly the nurses on duty who had to deal with an impatient and angry parent and did so very professionally.

I did wonder about the environment however especially because Disney movies were on constantly all night with the volume up high even though every parent who came in was trying to get their child to sleep whilst waiting. It did seem a bit crazy. Why not keep the movies for daytime and create a calmer atmosphere at night?

Dear 'Agave',

Thank you for your comment in relation to the ED Paediatric department. I would like to apologise for your long wait to be seen, but am delighted that the staff you eventually saw lived up to your expectations.

It is reassuring to know that my staff were able to effectively manage a difficult situation in a professional manner as unfortunately these situations are becoming more and more frequent in the NHS.

I note your comment re the Disney movies being on all night and I will feed this back to the Paediatric team.

Kind Regards

Jane Michell
