"acceptable but could have been home sooner"

About: Broomfield Hospital

What I liked

In general staff were polite and caring.

What could be improved

speed of release.

once consultant decided I could leave it took several hours for discharge notes, medications and canula to be removed. My bed could have been available much sooner if process by which I was released was improved. Nurses were constantly saying they would be straight back to do something, but it often took over an hour for them to return and then only when I chased them up. It took at least 4 hours from Consultant saying I could go to my actually having everything I required to leave my bed.

on my admittance, the ambulance staff had complained about how long it was taking for them to release patients to hospital care. the time it took for me to be released - in effect blocking a bed- confirmed for me that ambulances are unnecessarily delayed at the hospital
