"My son's crisis"

About: East Glade Centre Northern General Hospital / Accident and emergency Northern General Hospital / General medicine

(as a parent/guardian),

My son tried to end his life Early this month.   He was taken to A & E at the northern general hospital. Amazing staff and security, then on to critical care and eventually to Firth 1. During his 4 days in hospital I was in awe of all the staff, I cannot fault them in everything they did for my son and myself.   When we came home we were seen by the home treatment team who were absolutely amazing, they came to the house regularly for 15 days to support my son and also came to see me as his carer and offered me the support I needed. All the staff were professional,   kind, caring and understanding.   Nurses, Dr and support workers,   what can I say, fantastic.   My so saw a phycologist at east glade centre and this was the tiurnig point. His whole domina changed and I thank you very much for that. My son has just said " we forget how lucky we are to have the nhs"" Thank you once again,   a brilliant job done by all.

Thank you for leaving feedback and sharing your experience at this most difficult and traumatic time for your son and you. We are sorry you have both been through this, but it will mean a great deal to the staff concerned to know they were able to help you feel supported through it. They will really appreciate this and be very encouraged by it.

With thanks and all best wishes to you and your son

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about the positive experience that you and your son had with the Home Treatment team. Whilst this must have been a very difficult time for you both, we are very pleased to hear that this has had a positive impact on your son’s mental health and helped you feel supported in caring for your son - this is in-keeping with the team’s ethos of care delivery.

It’s always encouraging for the staff to hear responses about their work and we have already shared your feedback with the team. We hope that your son continues to do well with his mental health.

Regards

Imelda Murphy (Clinical Nurse Manager) Tom Foster (Senior Practitioner)
