"Amazing nurses, fabulous with our needle phobic 7 year old."

About: Lincoln County Hospital / General medicine

(as a parent/guardian),

Our daughter needs regular blood tests due to a thyroid issue and after a very traumatic experience first time round, became extremely needle phobic. This was causing immense amounts of stress, not only for her but for us as a family. We tried lots of different approaches, (including hypnotherapy) with the experience getting progressively worse. However, time before last we saw Nurses Caroline and Karen in Clinic 5. They spent time building up trust with our daughter and the experience- although still traumatic- was the best we’d had. Prior to her last blood test, I went to see Caroline and Karen, who took time out of their very busy days, to develop a strategy with me. When we arrived in Clinic they were fabulous with her, we implemented the strategy and had an altogether more positive experience! In future, we will make sure we go to see them and are very hopeful it will be a lot less stressful going forward.

Dear Happy mum Lincoln

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us about your recent visit to clinic.

Its lovely to hear that your daughter had a positive experience and felt supported by Caroline and Karen. She sounds like she was very brave.

we look forward to welcoming you back and hope that you continue to have positive and stress free visits for future blood tests.

And we look forward to sharing your story with the girls in clinic 5.

Thank you once again

King regards

Sharon and Laura.
