Arriving at Mount Vernon for my first appointment I discovered it was a group one with about six other patients. I found this approach worked well, seeing others about to embark on the same treatment was strangely comforting. we were introduced to the facilities and the path of our treatment was explained fully. This covered what to expect in the stages of treatment and also the possible side effects we might expect and what to do and who to contact if we had any problems or difficulties at any time.
We then were introduced to the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre and had a short talk and cup of tea with them. They also explained what help they provide and said be sure to drop in if we had any problems of any kind or just if we needed a chat.
I have almost completed the 20 days of my daily visits (weekends excepted). I have found all the staff in Prostate Cancer Care that I have had contact with very professional but also very friendly. They all show a great deal of care and kindness. Overall they make the Patient feel comfortable and well informed.
I will remember Mount Vernon Cancer Centre with gratitude for the treatment and for the feeling that they really care.
