Having been at this GP for 2 years, I am looking for a new surgery. Problems have included:
- bedside manner is totally lacking. I get that doctors are really overstretched and stressed but the GP's attitude is so dismissive it borders on rude. I have never felt so unwelcome at a doctors. I will say though that she is nice to my son.
- with various conditions from a thyroid problem, to my son's food allergy, to perinatal depression, the doctor has not provided any information or guidance. She says something like, "What do you want to do about it?" I'm all for patient involvement in decisions about care, but would love some input from the doctor.
- the receptionists can be hostile. I wish the practise management would support the receptionists so that they aren't so stressed! When I have called for appointments or test results, it can be clear from the receptionists manner that they are stressed and want you to go away. I wish they were able to be kinder to patients, who are calling because they are ill and need care.
- the practise had an amazingly lovely nurse, whose compassion made potentially stressful appointments like smear tests and injections for children bearable, but she has now left
- there is never any hand sanitiser in the dispensers
- my husband has been trying for over a year to get a referral for a hereditary illness, and has returned several times to fight his case. Apparently letters have been written, but they are not received by the relevant department and the surgery never follows up
"Frustrating"
