I had abdominal surgery on Friday, admitted to ward A15 Thursday to iron out any pre op complications. And the care I received was exceptional from the cleaners in my room, catering staff, to my surgeon, every nurse, healthcare assistant, anesthetists they were listening to me, involving me in decisions in my care, they treated me with respect, listened to my concerns and spent the time talking with me to help put me at ease.
I've had issues with the hospital in the past, but my experience this time I cannot fault in any way.
I'm a very nervous patient and had additional people with me at difficult times to support me and mop up my tears.
Every single member of staff were helpful kind understanding and most important to me they had compassion. If I had to go for surgery again I'd want to be here on this ward with this superb team looking after me. We spend as a society a lot of time criticising the NHS, and to see the staff working so hard to care for their patients whether it be the lovely tea lady or the surgeon do it with some much pride and compassion I can only salute them, every single one of them
"Exceptional care"
