(as the patient),

GP receptionists get a bad press but one at Craigmarloch medical centre saved my life a few days ago. I was having a mental health (mh) crisis and while the GP tried to get an emergency appointment the lovely receptionist sat with me and kept me  calm, not her job, not what she is trained for and not easy when I was looking around the room for ways to harm myself. Happy ending - released into the care of my family, MH nurse appointment the next day and psychiatrist appointment within 5 days. NHS in crisis but they were all there for me working as a team. No amounts of boxes of chocolates will be enough to thank them.

Thank you so much for posting about your experience - it sounds as though you have a lovely GP Practice and your right they often are the subject of bad press so it's lovely to hear such a positive story.
