"Rude, unprofessional admin staff"

About: London Road Medical Practice

I called this practice to register as a new patient, I was asked how far I lived. I explained that it don't matter, you tell me if you're refusing me to register, because I know what I'd do. I was then told that its fine, I can come and register. I went in and filled the forms, one of the staff was nice, but the other one decided to be rude, while I was trying to explain to her that one of my meds listed is an enteral feed, if she even knows what that mean. Hence after a weeks time when I am registered, it needs to followed up, and make sure its in place.

Immediately she told me that if I am not happy I can go somewhere else, which at that point I told her that don't you dare talk to me like that. For your only information, this is not her shop, you don't tell me where to go, its the NHS, under NHS Constitution I have a right to go anywhere I want, and I chose to come here because of the Doctors not the admin staff, you have nothing to offer me, you answer phones and pack files, practice within your scope. She talked over me like we were in a brawl, with no professionalism in front of other patients, stating that these are our policies.

Therefore, if you reading this I want to see your hard copy of your policies, and whether they're advocated by the NHS Constitution. I know each and every word in the Constitution. Educate your admin staff about the 6Cs, patients are part of the treatment. Don't employ clueless individuals, there are loads of people out there with care and expertise to do the job better, perhaps you wont have these kind of bad experiences.

As a practice we review all responses .

Registration:

With regards , how far you live , we do ask for postcodes. This will ensure that external community and local services are available to you with ease ( Croydon Network areas ).

We have discussed the points you noted about medication and the comment you have made about staff .

I explained that all staff are trained , if needs be significant requirements are noted and retraining is completed.

We discussed this at our weekly meeting

This includes reviewing policies.

Once registered you will receive a new patient check and Practice Pharmacy appointment , any other requirements can be discussed with me should you wish. .

Kind regards

Julie Watts Practice Manager
