"Very disappointing"

About: Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

I was referred to Winchester Hospital from Basingstoke Hospital.

I have Crohns Disease and live in Wickham near Newbury so had to use my car to get there. Having driven around trying to solve the Winchester parking puzzle, which is harder than solving a Rubiks Cube. I finally gave in to defeat, as by now I was late for my appointment. So tried to call the GI department to let them know, no one answered so I left a message. Having now found a parking space and a bus to take me to the hospital the inevitable happens with a crohns sufferer and had an accident. Great now I’m on a bus in need of getting changed, late for my appointment and no one able to talk to at the hospital. After feeling incredibly embarrassed, stressed, and late I decided that perhaps the treatment I went there for wasn’t really worth it. Thanks Winchester for making my condition worse!!!

I am very sorry that your experience at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital was so distressing. The parking situation at the hospital is not as we would want it and we have been trying to improve things within the constraints of the site. I am very sorry that no one answered the phone in the GI department. This is not what we would expect and I can see how that added to your distress. I have shared your comments with the relevant teams but if you would like to discuss your circumstances further please contact our customer care team on customercare@hhft.nhs.uk or 01256 486766. Once again I am sorry about your experience with us.
