I had a wonderful experience at St Mary's Birth Centre. The staff are exceptional. I had a much more calm and relaxed experience giving birth than I could ever have hoped for. The staff held me to build confidence with my baby as a first time mum. There was no rush to leave the postnatal ward - I was supported through the worst bit of my hormones changing on day three, the staff helped me to get breastfeeding properly established, and I was supported in carrying for my baby's needs.
Since leaving hospital I've been reassured by having an experienced midwife just a phonecall away day and night to help me during the early days of breatfeeding. I'm sure I would have given up by now without their support.
Everyone should be aware of the excellent work done at St Mary's antenatally, during birth, and postnatally. I believe I had the best experience out of all my NCT group simply because I chose to give birth at St Mary's. Most of the ladies hadn't heard of the centre and that is a real shame. I would recommend St Mary's to anyone considered low risk for birth, and to everyone for their postnatal care. It's an amazing resource and an example to the NHS of what can be done to make pregnant women and new mums feel supported, safe, and dignified.
"An amazing facility with wonderful staff"
