I have glaucoma. My last appointment at the Ophthalmology clinic was 1st September 2018 when the consultant asked me to return in SIX weeks. Today, 13th November I rang to enquire why I had no appointment through. After finding my details she told me that my next appointment was for March! Someone in error had written six months instead of six weeks. The secretary did say I would move to the top of the list so let's hope this is the case. I really do think this needs looking into. My eyesight is deteriorating quite quickly and I do not need these hold ups due to someones incompetence.
I have also had two appointments (at the moment) cancelled for the rheumatology department. My doctor referred me in July and appointment now January 2019. The steroids I am on for Polymyalgia I believe may be causing the deterioration in my eyesight, as does my consultant. It is Prednisolone. I appear to be in a lose lose situation. In the meantime my joints are swelling, hands, knees, elbows and ankles and I am in pain.
I have no problem with my TREATMENT at the Ophthalmology clinic.
