"Princess Alexandra Chemotherapy Day Unit"

I have just completed the sixth of six three-weekly treatments in the chemotherapy day unit. Needless to say, I approached this with trepidation - but very quickly learned that there was little to fear. From the beginning the staff were welcoming, friendly and totally professional. They exercise the highest standards of thoroughness and cleanliness, but manage to do this in a way that leaves the patient and partner feeling relaxed. The atmosphere is in many ways more like a laid-back social club than a hospital environment. In between treatment days I had occasion to contact the team three times. What then became clear was that I had a first-class care team available to me 24/7 for the duration of my treatment. When I went to the hospital on these occasions, I was invariably thanked for coming in - as if I was doing them a favour, rather than the other way about. I cannot speak highly enough of the standard of care and personal attention I have received.
