"I have been in a dark place, but now the sun has come out"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as the patient),

I found myself in a bad place, I knew I needed to seek help although I always thought I was bomb proof,   and this was very alien to me, I have never asked for help in my life that's how I knew things  where really bad.   first contact was so important to me, I was made to feel its allowed to have feelings..I did feel sorry for the girlie on the end of the phone during that first consult, , I spent much of it in tears... which resulted in me going in to see someone and going through some of my issues, and there where many...after a few sessions with her I then went on to a councillor by the name of Steve there was a mutual respect which was good on my part. he had a way in showing me how just putting a plaster over my problems was not me dealing with stuff, I had many tears, but they all turned to be honest ones.   my self destruct button is still there, but not being used as much, and seeing things from a different prospective, when you are just filled with so much anger, and not knowing how to direct it or take charge of it, just ate me up inside... not saying it was easy, its hard to admit to yourself no one is a super hero and hiding things away may work for a while but the reality can be far harder ... but to say I find myself today in a much better place. dealing with issues that I just jumped on and tried to keep well hid. I have been in a dark place, but now the sun has come out, and putting a fresh coat of paint of house and life...

Dear essex bird

Firstly, apologies from me as I read your brilliant story last week and replied the same day. However, something obviously went adrift from my phone and it hasn't come through!? Weird but never mind.

On the up side, I get to say once more, what I said the first time which was -

Really Well done you!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story and to speak so honestly too.

Do you know how powerful stories like yours are for others who may be in a similar situation but are not quite sure how to ask for support?

We certainly know, as clients tell us, that hearing other peoples experiences give them the courage and self belief to try themselves.

So on behalf of all the clients who will read this as well as all the staff at Inclusion Thurrock a huge thank you and we hope you continue to enjoy the sunshine of life as well as your " repainting "!!!!

Many thanks

Paul

Update posted by essex bird (the patient)

firstly thank you .... without the likes of you and your co workers I would not be on a better path.... thinks are starting to open up for me and it has helped me come to terms with things and look at them face on and deal with matters one at a time, instead of being a raging bull,, now the quiet country mouse......lol.........
