"No faith in the service"

My husband and I have been on the patient list since we moved to the area in 2017. Our records that followed our registration i’m sure would show that we inconvenienced the Dr only when truly required and never failed to attend our appointments without if necessary giving adequate cancellation time.

However, I would say our treatment has been poor. Receptionists no doubt decent people but in their role are very trying.

I have very rarely managed to secure an emergency appointment even if I phone at opening time.

One Doctor sent me to A and E with my 3 year old grandson who had somehow managed to get a splinter in his eye lid. Normally something I would remove myself but the location of it I felt needed a Dr which for once the receptionist agreed. Sent me to A and E!!!!! I couldn’t believe what I heard. My GP. My community general practitioner sent me to A and E for a minor treatment when the A and E departments are crippled with patients!!! Please. On leaving I was told I could make an appointment with the nurse who’d do it. So let me get this right. The Dr couldn’t who we had just be sat with but the nurse could. Bewildering. That is one instance. More serious issues concern me. Overall my worry is that if I am unable to self diagnose would the practice really offer up a caring, problem solving and reassuring environment or would they do what they always do and shunt us off o the hospital or walk in centres etc where you are just another number. But, then I am already just a number. Frightening.

We do have a full complaints procedure, this can be obtained at our reception desk.
