I was recently referred to the endoscopy clinic for a colonoscopy, to investigate symptoms I described to my GP.
The staff were universally welcoming, patient & professional... as for the exam itself, I won't say it was enjoyable, however it was tolerable and carried out promptly & effectively.
I made a conscious decision to avoid sedation which the staff respected and the passing of the endosope round the corners of my large intestine was uncomfortable enough for me to resort to the offered Entonox. Once the endospcoe was in place though, the procedure was in no way unpleasant.
The single polyp found was removed completely without sensation and the whole exam was over within half an hour. I was reassured by the care and attention I got, both before and after the exam, and after a nice cup of tea and some very welcome digestive biscuits, I was good to go home. A big Thank You to all the many staff I met, who were all perfectly lovely!
