"ENT not fit for purpose"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

The ENT department at the countless is not fit for purpose. After waiting 6 months for my initial appointment, I was then put back a further 2 months. When I finally got into the surgery there was an hour and a half wait to see the doctor. The receptionist was rude when I questioned her as to the reasons. I was told I need a scan before having an operation. I went for the scan and was told I would get an appointment to see a doctor to discuss in 'a few weeks'. When the appointment came it was for FIVE months later. I still do no know the results of my scan as no one has bothered to call me or write to me as was promised when I called to chase. It will be over a year since the initial visit to my gp before I even get a diagnosis, god knows when the operation I need will be scheduled!

This kind of shambles would not be accepted anywhere else in our society, but the nhs gets away with it due to the unwavering goodwill of the majority of its users. It is time some serious money is invested in the nhs so it can better serve the needs of our population.
