We would like to send a huge thank you to the team who helped deliver our baby last week.
Most of my labor went well, and the midwife was really helpful in creating a calm and lovely birth environment and offering support in a gentle and non-intrusive way. Towards the end of labour our baby went into distress and a team had to come and assist. We were so impressed at the sheer speed and efficiency with which they handled the situation. While it was scary to know our baby was in danger it was so reassuring to see that the team were completely in control of the situation and working effectively together.
For me in particular (as patient) I was so grateful for the very clear explanations and instructions the staff gave me. I was aware of being quite disoriented and confused from the labour and it terrified me that I was in that state and might not be able to help or understand what I should do at a time when my baby was in danger. It was like a lifeline to hear the staff keep telling me clearly and repeatedly exactly what I needed to do. I was so thankful to be able to follow their instructions and have my son delivered into my arms a few minutes later.
I also found it really thoughtful that the doctor came by later that day to check if we understood what had happened or had any questions.
I can imagine that the job you do is both really rewarding and incredibly tough at times. Please know that we will remain deeply grateful to you for the rest of our lives for the wonderful work you do.
"I was so grateful for the clear explanations"
