"Very rude doctor!"

About: St. Margaret's Hospital / Dermatology

I visited this hospital a couple of years ago, not sure what date. So this review is delayed, however I just read a review regarding the same experience I had! So it has made me want to post! I had an itchy mole, which was so itchy it woke me up several times every night. I wasn’t getting any sleep and I didn’t want to scratch it as it had a formed a rash around it. I saw my doctor who suspected melanoma. However, I was transferred to St Margaret’s to get it removed. Luckily, I took my Dad with me. However, the doctor spent most of his time trying to talk me out of it, he didn’t even look at my mole before saying “it won’t be cancerous you’re just wasting my time and NHS funding. The operation won’t be worth the risks”. When I asked about what risks, he said “well it might come infected”. He then said I was panicking too much for him to remove the mole. I wasn’t panicking, I was just laying on the bed talking to him. I was so calm! My Dad has to interfere and demand he removes it, cancerous or not, it’s keeping me up at night with the itching!

The doctor finally removed it, and done the stitches, then said “I have to send this off for testing, but I’m telling you now it isn’t cancerous and you’ve wasted our time and money”. We left.

Few days went by, I received a letter from the hospital stating the mole had cancerous cells & I need to have regular check ups in case it has spread!!!!!

The doctor didn’t want to remove it, and it was cancerous! I was so angry!

Few weeks had gone by and I visited my local GP as I was told to, to have my stitches removed. The nurse said I shouldn’t of had stitches in the first place as the wound wasn’t big enough! So she had to cut my skin to get to the stitches where my skin had healed over the top! Then I was left with the wound again. Which didn’t require stitches and healed by itself. The scar is now bumpy where he done unnecessary stitches and too tightly so the skin all overlapped and healed then it had to get broken apart to have the stitches removed, and re-healed. This was completely unnecessary and I now have bumpy scars, which I have since found I can report as it is unnecessary. I felt like the doctor done it on purpose because I made him remove my mole (as a previous doctor had diagnosed and requested to do). He was so rude. I hope I never have to deal with him again.
