"Beyond expectations"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I thought I had a pulled muscle in my left arm and on saturday went to my physio who took one look and told me to go immediately to A&E as she thought I had a serious infection.

I arrived at East Surrey A&E at 2:25pm when they were busy treating 12 new patients per hour. At 4:35pm I left having had an initial  diagnosis from Duty GP Dr Brent,  blood tests and an x-ray and then a review of tests and a diagnosis by Dr Brent and a prescription for an antibiotic. I had my 1st dose at 5:00pm and by Sunday the arm is clearly improving. Also, a member of the reception staff gave me her personal mobile phone so that I could telephone my wife - a really kind act. I wish to congratulate and thank the hospital staff for their amazing efficiency and highest standard of service. Beyond expectation!

Dear JBT

Thank you so much for giving us such positive feedback. I will let the Emergency Department team know. It has been really good to have the GPs present at the "front door" of ED and I am so glad that they helped so quickly.

I hope that you are on the road to recovery.

Many thanks

Ben

Over the years East Surrey Hospital has treated me on a number of occasions for a variety of problems - and also my profoundly handicapped daughter - and the standard of care has always been excellent.
