"Excellent cannulation and communication skills"

About: Huddersfield Royal Infirmary / General surgery

(as a carer),

Following an acute admission and several practitioners attempting to take blood and insert a cannula a young Dr called Tom arrived.  He was very patient and understanding, he used different strategies including holding a glove full of hot water over potential sites and was successful on first attempt.

Thank you to Tom who listened carefully to our concern over the previous repeated and unsuccessful attempts. And promised not to attempt without showing us and talking us through his assessment of each site. Tom demonstrated excellent communication skills and clinical skills. He created a trust between us and him.

Sorry not to have recorded his surname so we could make sure he was thanked. This was an admission to the surgical assessment unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary during February 2018.

Elsie - what a lovely review to read. It will be shared with the team on the surgical assessment unit as they may be able to pinpoint the lovely Dr Tom.

Thank you again!
