"Disappointed with service from Pharmacy dept"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

What I liked

Care and information from doctors and nurses

What could be improved

Length of time sat waiting for antibiotic prescription. Handed in prescription at pharmacy dept then sat and waited for 45 minutes before receiving the antibiotics. During this period 2 nurses handed in prescriptions at pharmacy and received the medication immediately. I appreciate that some prescriptions are perhaps more urgent than others and do not object to the nurses getting their prescriptions immediately for use in the hospital but during the rest of the 45 minutes I was waiting there were no other prescriptions handed in by anyone else. How long does it take for the staff to make up and hand out an antibiotic prescription for people actually sat there waiting.

Response from Royal Lancaster Infirmary

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment about our services. We will pass on your kind comments regarding the doctors and nurses. We do apologise that you feel that you had to wait longer than necessary to receive your medication. The pharmacy department will also receive requests that do not come direct to the reception area and this may have been the reason for the delay, however we note that it does not appear that you were kept informed as to the length of time that it may take to get your medication ready. We will pass your comments onto the Pharmacy team.
