I was admitted in October 2018 for a replacement hip operation , ward 10 Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. I arrived a 7.30 am and was immediately seen to by the staff nurse , checked in , made comfortable right away . The ward was understaffed this day but that didn't stop the staff nurse of the ward rolling up her sleeves and mucking in with absolute everything . All staff from the surgeon, anaesthetist's ,recovery nurse, theatre staff ,senior nurses , nurses, auxiliaries and food helpers and anyone I've missed all helped me in my experience in Ward 10 , Victoria Hospital,Kirkcaldy.
A good shout to the senior nursing practitioner who looked after me all the way through my journey in hospital. My operation was done with a special anaesthetic as per part of Copenhagen ERAS pilot which I believe aids recovery post op .
I was was independently mobile with sticks an hour after returning back to the ward and doing the stair tests for discharge in the afternoon around 3.30 ish . Unfortunately the lack of passing urine up to a certain time meant I was to stay in that night but was allowed home the next day . The night staff was equally good and caring and busy answering all the buzzers ,attending patients .
"All staff helped me"
