"My first experience at this survery"

About: Woodcote Medical

After the closure of my surgery I visited this surgery two weeks ago and had blood test done. Having not heard from the practice about my blood test result I went into the surgery yesterday and was told by the receptionist that in my notes action has been taken - she then offered me a printout of the result of the blood test telling me that there is pre diabetes in my result - I told her i needed to see a doctor urgently so that the results of the blood test could be explained fully. I was told I would have to wait for two weeks.

I insisted that this was a matter of urgency. She then said there were others waiting to be seen - after a few minutes she told me to return at 17:10 that day. I returned and saw the doctor and she asked me if I received a letter from the surgery as my notes indicated that someone had written comments. I told her

I had not receive a letter hence me attending the surgery to ask about the result. The doctor explained about the pre diabetes and she also indicated that my cholesterol level was low and I needed to stop taking the medication for six months. I was prescribed "Atrovastatin" by the hospital in February because I had a TIA. Had I not seen a doctor I would have continued taking the above medication with serious outcome.

Thank you for your comments on your recent experience of our surgery. It is our practice policy to contact patients, whose results are abnormal, by phone or in writing. I apologise as it seems that the letter that was sent to you, requesting that you contact the surgery to discuss your results, did not reach you. We do advise patients that if they have not heard from us within 7 working days of their test, that they either phone the surgery or log into Patient Access to view their test results.

I am pleased to hear that the receptionist managed to book you a same day appointment with a GP to discuss your results and that the GP was able to help you with your medication.

Thank you again for highlighting the issues that you experienced and for providing us with feedback on our service.

Kind regards,

Deborah Roberts

Business Manager
