Deterioration in vision caused visit to A&E. Wait for triage 3x longer than indicated on display. All staff friendly, considerate and courteous. Drs & nurses referred to seniors readily when concerned about symptoms. However some staff insisted on talking to carer despite being asked to address patient directly and only look to carer if there are problems communicating due to aphasia. More training required?)
Difficulty taking photos of back of eye because of lack of movement and coordination due to disability but some photographers are able to manipulate machine better than others. (More Training?)
Another problem was unavailability of patient notes - they could only be obtained overnight(!) - so they could not compare current vision with previous or look at details of previous treatments.
Finally, we saw at least 7 nurses/technicians and at least 3 doctors all of whom gave their names but I can't remember any of them although I can remember faces. Perhaps a card could be issued when you arrive and each member of staff could note down name, time & role using codes so one has a record of what happened as the following day it can be so difficult to recall? Many thanks, hope this helps.
"Attended A&E, lovely staff but..."
