"Getting results of biopsy and scan is impossible."

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Gynaecology

I received my appointment for 5th September quickly (cancer scare). I had to have a biopsy of my womb and then a pelvic scan a few days later. The lady who did the colposcopy was very friendly and got on with the job in hand efficiently, though there was no mention of consultant who I was actually under. I was told I would be written to with the results when I mentioned I’d been through similar 2.5 years ago and never got any results, even when I chased them. I was also concerned to see I had a new empty file when I have lived in Lincoln all of my life and have had a child and normally have a fairly thick file. The lady didn’t know why it was empty. I went for a scan the following week 10th September, the lady who did this was aloof and unfriendly, I felt uncomfortable and couldn’t wait to get away. I have been chasing results ever since, to no avail. when I called in at my doctors they told me I have to chase the hospital, when I phone the hospital (gynaecology) the phone is always engaged, the one time it wasn’t nobody answered and it rang out, I called straight back and it was engaged again. I don’t know what the answer is and I’m hoping this means I’m well. I’m writing this review in frustrating and wondering if this will provoke a response, though I’m not holding my breath.

Hi

So sorry that you are encountering problems getting your scan results. I have passed your concerns to the colposcopy team but as all stories are anonymous, could I please ask you to urgently contact our PALS team on 01522 707071 or pals@ulh.nhs.uk. If you could please quote story ref 593983, they will be able to see the concerns you have raised. They will be able to liaise with the team and get you your important scan results

Regards

Sharon Kidd

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to let us know how difficult it has been to get feedback regarding your results. I am really sorry that you have had this experience.

If you have not already managed to get your results, our Gynaecology Specialist Nurse team can also support you to obtain these and provide additional support alongside our PALS team to look into the other elements you highlight (notes and scan experience). They can be contacted on 01522 573126 - responding to answer machine messages throughout the day.

If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know. Your results are the priority, but it would also be really helpful to understand more about your experience, so that we can learn and improve.

Best wishes

Sarah Ward
