"Physio following surgery"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Physiotherapy (outpatients)

(as a service user),

I was told by my surgeon in another health trust that I would require intensive physio following surgery to re-attached my abductor muscle. I was refered to the Physio department at East Surrey Hospital.

Far from being given 'intensive' physio, I was just given a few exercises to do at home and then not offered an appointment for weeks. This for a muscle that had been atrophing for the last 2 years. I was falsly told that I could be walking without a stick in a few weeks.

My overwhelming impression was that the physiotherapist could not have cared less.

I have since signed up with a personal trainer and have been going to the gym 5 times a week for the last 6 weeks.

I can now walk without the stick but still have a long way to go.
