Anything else?

Where do I start. Following assessment in A & E ( which was fine), I was moved to a monitoring bay where I waited for a bed to be found. The staff were efficent, pleasant and informative; however, there was blood stained gause on the floor of my bay ( obviously had not been removed from the previous patient). Whilst there, I used a bottle to urinate, and on leaving was told to leave it on the floor and it would be dealt with ( infection control)? From here my experience of UHND deteriorated. Staff on the ward were, on the whole, ok! However, that was dependant on which staff were working. Person-centred care was very dependant upon which staff were working. Most of the time I felt abandoned, and invisible. One senior staff member completely ignored my wife and I as they attended to moving pillows from my table to a chair so far back from my bed that had I wanted them I would have been unable to get them; there was no eye contact or communication. This is just rude - busy or not!! I moved wards due to bed space, and that was a better experience, however, each time my wife visited me she had to change my water bottle, even though I asked myself for it to be done. Staff here appeared very stretched, but most maintained a great sense of humour and a smile. On discharge I received medication with another persons details on

( which I realised once home), but apparently this was fine; I am not so sure. I have had many dealings with the NHS, all have been positive, but my stay at UHND has quite possibly been the worst experience I have encountered.
