I had amelogenesis imperfecta on most of my teeth from a young age. I was referred to the restorative team and underwent brace work for alignment and restorative work with an end result of porcelain veneers top and bottom. When I started treatment I was extremely self conscious of the appearance of my teeth and had been for years causing me to be shy and introverted. Over time and with the progression of treatment I began to feel different. I have just been discharged and I have a full, straight, white, beautiful smile. I never thought this would be possible and sometimes I realise I'm smiling at people just because I can. You take on a whole different mind set when you can look people in the eye to talk to them instead of staring at your feet. I had interaction with photography and imaging, restorative and orthodontics over the course and was treated with compassion, understanding and professional courtesy and respect at every appointment. My many thanks must go to the consultant and his restorative team that made all of this possible. I cannot thank him and his team enough for giving me back a part of myself that I didn't realise I was missing. I would highly recommend the services and staff at Birmingham dental hospital and I know if I have any need in the future they will take care of me.
