"Emergency admission after contacting the 111..."

I was admitted to hospital after loosing continence following a fracture in my spine, my GP advised this if it did happen. I was treated quickly and with total dignity, the MRI scanner had to be opened for me to receive an urgent scan, while the spinal team reviewed tis scan I was kept comfortable, updated and reassured. I was then transferred to ward 226 where I was told I needed urgent surgery which was very scary and unexpected. I met with the consultant and his spinal team and he explained what he needed to do and why and within an hour I was on my way to theatre.

The care that then began was well hard to describe with simple words, everyone was absolutely fabulous and although totally rushed off their feet were just amazing always acting with such empathy and kindness and professionalism.

I am now at home recovering and feeling like I have won the lottery I am not paralyzed and have regained my continence without theses amazing people the result could have been so very different. We all hope that we never find ourselves or our loved ones unwell and in hospital but thank goodness we have such an amazing NHS with fantastic professionals available to fix us. These people are heroes plain and simple, lets appreciate each and everyone of them. Thank you to the ambulance ladies, A&E staff, the radiographer that came in to scan me,the consultant and his spinal team, all the nursing team, porters, Sodexo staff just everyone you are all Angels and please know that everyday you go above and beyond what your job descriptions are, often not even having time to grab a bit to eat or even a drink and never complaining of that just making sure that the patients in your care are cared for to the highest standard.
