"40 degrees temperature for 1 year old"

About: Friarage Hospital Site / Accident and emergency

visited today evening with 1 year old daughter who’s had 40 degrees temperature, after not being able to take it down with paracetamol/ibuprofen I was left thoughtless and went straight to a&e. Lovely lady on reception was very caring and organised a nurse to see my daughter within 5 minutes, and thanks to the nurse I left hospital calm and peaceful. She’s explained everything to me and looked very well after us.. shame I can’t say the same about the doctor!! Even more shame I can’t include his name as I will always remember it... firstly he rang me even though I was in waiting room... ok... once taken to examination room, rather than concentrating on checking my daughter he’s has this conversation with me telling me off I’m against vaccinations... it wasn’t the topic I visited for and I have explained 2 times I’ve had this conversation with my GP and don’t want to go into it again.. then he’s had a look at her, conclusion: viral infection.. ok, phew for me as nothing serious. But what I heard after put me out my shoes :o I shouldn’t give my daughter anything even with such a high temperature until she’s drowsy or floppy and I didn’t do right giving it to her. I said to me such a high temperature is dangerous and been asked why do I think that? What kind of doctor would tell worried mum of 1(!!!) year old 40 degrees temperature is nothing to worry about. I am very extremely disappointed..
