"Appointments System"

About: Hemel Hempstead Hospital / Dermatology

I have had a red, itchy area near the end of my nose. My GP said it needed looking at and eventually an appointment was made for me at Hemel Hospital. This was months in advance so I tried to get a "cancellation" as I would have been available almost any time but this did not happen.

However I was eventually seen - on time - that was fine and a nurse made an appointment for me to have a biopsy, saying I would be sent a further appointment 2 weeks later to get the results.

Appointments arrived by post, one for the biopsy and the other for the appointment I had just had. I tried ringing to get an appointment for 2 weeks after the biopsy to no avail.

The biopsy went fine, I was told to come back in 2 weeks. I needed to make an appointment. The receptionist said she had nothing for a further 6 weeks and apparently made me an appointment; all the time having a conversation with her colleague (whom I couldn't see) in the office behind. She gave me very short shrift. I felt this was most unprofessional but didn't say anything at the time as I just wanted to get home for some paracetamol.

Again I would be available to come almost any time if a nearer appointment could be arranged. Surely there could be a way, if people cancel appointments, of giving them to others who would appreciate them?
