"Spinal Tap"

About: Derriford Hospital / Neurosurgery

My son was admitted to A+E after a rugby injury. He was treated amazingly well with speed and excellent professionalism. He went through an X-Ray, CT scan and MRI and was fitted with a neck brace all within 8 hours on a Saturday night. Neurology monitored his progress while he was in CDU and he was moved to Moorgate Ward. The staff were friendly and kind to us and while we were unsure about prognosis and outcome as the injury was severe, staff made us feel comfortable and checked on us regularly.

The neurosurgeon and his team were very honest and explained the injuries in great detail with drawn diagrams and by showing and explaining the scans.

The physio team on Moorgate Ward very patiently showed us how to fit and change foam inserts on my son’s Aspen Vista neck brace.

A massive thank you to A+E staff, ward junior doctor, nurses, health care assistants and ancillary staff CDU and Moorgate Ward at Derriford Hospital Plymouth.

Fantastic job and my son is expected to make a full recovery over the coming months.
