"Perfect care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

From the moment I turned up for my hip replacement I was kept well informed, and treated with friendly respect and care by the staff. The team on theatre were so reassuring and efficient that an event I had been truly terrified about in anticipation became relaxed and almost enjoyable in reality. The recovery room continues the theme, an efficient reassuring team making you feel cared for and comfortable. Once on Ward D5 the the clean, quiet ward with smiling friendly staff soon had me settled in. Despite the fact that I experienced some unavoidable post operative pain I was constantly monitored and appropriate medication supplied as soon as it became necessary. I experienced low sodium so felt very nauseous and tired but again all possible steps were taken not only to correct the condition but to keep me as comfortable as possible. The staff demonstrated a wonderful mixture of kindness, humour and compassion and with a reassuring expertise. The occupational therapists and physiotherapists were they every day, and again were friendly, kind and helpful as well as knowledgeable. The catering team supplied plenty of hot drinks throughout the day and the homemade soup offered as a starter for the evening meal was delicious. There was a salad on offer every evening and it was crisp, fresh and crunchy. I had met surgeon many times prior to my admission so I had developed a good relationship with him. This helped me feel the trust that is necessary to have every confidence in the outcome of the operation. I feel I have been dealt with by a supremely coordinated team of professionals . I cannot recommend them highly enough. I would like to send my sincere thanks to each and every one.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your kind words with us. I am so glad that you had such a positive experience with us, despite the circumstances, and will of course share your comments with the staff involved in your care as I am sure they will be delighted to receive them.

May I take this opportunity to wish you all the best for your recovery.

Lisa.
