"Unable to walk with very painful knee"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital / Accident and emergency

I visited A&E before 9am on Saturday 6th October.

The waiting room was quiet with about 6 other patients waiting.

The 'time waiting' board said that there were 10 patients in A&E.

I was discharged at about 3.45 after very a kind and thorough assessment of my problem.

I was in great pain and pain relief was administered as soon as I saw the triage nurse.

Blood tests were taken and an X-Ray.

I then went to the

Emergency Ambulatory Care Unit where again I was well cared for.

I waited for an Orthopaedic Surgeon to come from the ward to examine my knee.

He carefully explained the problem and the options to me.

All staff were kind and polite and considerate. I was alarmed and anxious and in a lot of pain and they were very reassuring and sensitive. They were also cheerful and very positive in all the different care units. Such a relief to have the problem addressed in such a pleasant manner.

A long time but seen by many different care professionals and always an explanation of the likely wait and a reason for the wait.

Thank you all very much.
