About: Eastbourne District General Hospital / Dermatology

Having been referred by my GP for a possible subungual melanoma, I was seen a week later, so well within the 2 week target time.

The nurse, who greeted me, put me at my ease straight away and the consultant was really easy to talk to and very good at explaining exactly why she had reached her diagnosis. In addition, she checked me thoroughly for any other possible issues.

Throughout I was put at my ease, treated with dignity and given time to ask any questions I wanted, given the potential gravity of the situation.

I am so grateful to have this excellent service on my doorstep and to have such highly skilled medical staff available to see me so promptly. The NHS is amazing and unique. Thank you DGH.

The Trust works hard to provide a high standard of care to all patients, and so it is very reassuring for us to read this has been your experience, particularly given what a most anxious and worrying time it must have been for you. We sincerely hope that the results of any tests taken come through quickly, so that any ongoing care required can be expedited for you.

It is also our wish that patients are treated with kindness, compassion, dignity and respect, and we are delighted to read that the nurse and the Consultant you saw met these standards by providing kind, professional, dignified care, and ensured you were given time to ask any questions you had.
