"My husband’s care after contracting pneumonia"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Acute assessment unit Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Day Medicine Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Respiratory medicine Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My husband was taken by ambulance to Forth Valley A&E, suffering from pneumonia. He was admitted to Acute Assessment and thereafter to Ward B 12.

Throughout his stay his care by all of the staff was exemplary, carried out with kindness, consideration and good humour. I am sure this contributed to his speedy recovery. Furthermore, all the staff made us, his family feel welcome and when approached were helpful and informative as to his progress.

I cannot thank you enough for the dedicated care and attention you afforded him while a patient in Forth Valley.

I find myself becoming angry and frustrated at the criticism often levelled at the NHS in the media, which is very rarely counterbalanced-by the many success stories and favourable outcomes for patients.

Please pass on my heartfelt thanks to all the staff in A&E, Acute Assessment, Ward B12 and the Day Medicine Unit.

Dear Cannondale,

Thank you very much for taking the time to post such a lovely and honest message on the Care Opinion platform. I am really sorry to learn that your husband required admission to our hospital after suffering from Pneumonia. I can personally relate to how unwell he must have been and hope that he is very much on his way to doing better.

I am delighted to hear that NHS Forth Valley's staff within the ED, AAU, Ward B12 and Day Medicine contributed so well to his care and equally your concerns and needs as a family which is equally as important. In addition, I am happy to learn that you were kept well informed throughout your husbands stay in FVRH.

I agree that negative portrayals of the NHS within the media really do impact on patients, family's and importantly the staff within. To hear your view that the care was exemplary and that the staff showed kindness, consideration and good humour, reinforces that in NHS Forth Valley, our promise and continued commitment to delivering Person Centred Care to everyone is being delivered time and time again. I will certainly share your comments with the staff within all the departments involved in looking after your husband. Thank you once again.

Best wishes,

Gavin Dolan

Dear Cannondale,

Thank you for your feedback on CareOpinion. I am glad to read that the treatment your husband received at the hands of the NHS was of a high standard and I thank you for your words around the negativity that is often directed towards us.

I am sorry however to read that your husband had reason to use our services in the first place and I do hope that he is on the road to a full recovery.

I wish you all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
