"how can this ward fail so badly"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

my wife was transfered from cramlington acute unit to ward 3 rake lane on the afternoon of wed the 6th. I was told by cramlington tha she required physio to help her breathing, she had terminal lung cancer, she also required some test which were not specified

Audrey had the gift of meeting a person at the bus stop or at a meeting a forming a livelong friendship audrey was put in a bay with 5 ladies who could not carry out a conversation an entry in her journal reads Still in ward 3 nobody speaks I feel dead.

On the friday afternoon visit audrey told me that the physios’ had taken her to do the stairs. Afer visiting I went to the nurse station and asked what was happening to my wife as she had done the stairs as I had been told by cramlington that she needed physio to help her breathing the nurse said Iam her named nurse there will be a meeting on monday and walked away. It was the most arrogant contemptuos dismisal I have experienced in my 73 years

On the saturday when I visited her there was a tub on the table audrey had told that nurse that she had a sore bottom the nurse came back gave her the tub and told her to put some her bottom and walked away. There was a soaked pillow by her chair audrey had a weeping odeama on her left arm which was hugely swollen by a thombrosis. Her right arm was swollen because of a blockage in her sub vena cava this was left to weep until tuesday evening wh after a sickening meeting with the ward manager audrey was provided with a pressure mattress and a dressing for her weeping left arm.

On the saturday afternoon I took a protein drink in for her because her appetite following chemo was so poor. I went to the sluice a member of staff was there. I asked her for another water jug and told them I woulg be mixing orange juice with the drink. The next day it was gone someone had thrown it out.

I have tried for 3 months to find out her name. The ward manager claimed he could not identify her. Variuos levels of managment have told me they cannot give me her nams and nursing midwifery council pin number and even an application for access to her medical records giving her will and a copy of her instruction to her g.p. records authorising my access has gone unresponded to
