What I liked

I have been in more hospitals than I care to remember. Haltwhistle Hospital is exceptional in ever area. The staff are excellent, the treatment is friendly and courteous. The food is second to none, all credit to the catering staff.

There is no higher praise to offer - they are the very best. An example of all that is good in the Health Service.

What could be improved

The attitude of the people making the decisions for this hospital. This hospital is exceptional in every sense, yet the powers that be seem not to care, for the patients who use this hospital, the staff, or even the financial situation.

The system might be broken, but the hospital building can be mended and restored.

Anything else?

There are too many fat cats making invalid decisions for our hospitals, it is time to give back the hospitals to the people. Restore matrons, cut away middle management, and put that money into the nursing staff. Ultimate control should be at the point of supply. This makes fiscal, and social sense.

Stop the silly power struggles which cost the taxpayer a fortune, and get back to the basics.
