I was diagnosed with active non pulmonary TB in September 2010 after undergoing a biopsy on a neck lump under Mr Kang Consultant ENT surgeon. The care I received from Mr Kang and his team was tremendous at a very difficult time when I expected the worst.
On being diagnosed with TB I was transferred to the care of Dr Nicholas Kennedy, Infectious Diseases Consultant at Monklands.
I would like to say that at all my monthly appointments I was treated with dignity and respect by all members of his team. I was constantly given reassurance and advice re my condition until I was signed off as `cured` in May 2011.
Given all the bad press Monklands Hospital receives I would like to say that my experience has only been very very good. As a fellow NHS worker, I understand the imense pressures the very difficult current financial and budget contraints cause.
I feel the sterling work the staff do at Monklands Hospital whilst coping with these conditions and still providing a very high standard of care is very much under recognised.
So keep up the good work Infectious diseases and thank you for helping me back to health again.
