"Excellent experience !"

About: Leeds General Infirmary / Accident and emergency

My Mum was admitted to A&E at 11.15 with a suspected stroke

Was triaged after 20mins and had bloods taken

Within 20mins we were seen by the stroke nurse who explained everything really simply and thoroughly, she told us what they suspected and what tests and scans my Mum would be having and why she was having them

My Mum was scanned within 30mins and once all results were in the stroke nurse told us exactly what the diagnoses was and that they would be admitting Mum onto ward 21,she explained what the ward was for and calmed us down so we knew what to expect and not be shocked or frightened ,all very reassuring!

Once on ward 21 we were met by the most fantastic nurse and doctor who again reassured and explained why they were doing all the cognitive tests etc, they couldn’t have treated my Mum and us any better

The following morning Mum saw a physio,OT a consultant and a pharmacist,all before 10am....phenomenal!

Discharged at 2.30 with full assurances, clear instructions and follow up appointments in place

Our NHS gets a lot of negativity but on this occasion our experience was faultless and want to say thank you to all staff involved

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us regarding your mum's attendance at the Leeds General Infirmary, Accident and Emergency and also her time as an inpatient on ward 21.

It is wonderful to read your words of support and encouragement for the staff and to know that the care your mum received throughout her stay with us was a pleasant one.

I have taken the liberty of passing on your kind comments to the Matron's for both ward 21 and Urgent care and I have asked that these are shared among the teams. I know that they will be delighted to know the care your mum received met up to both you and your mum's expectations.

with kindest regards
