I visited 3 departments in the new building at Chase Farm yesterday. As always all staff were friendly and helpful.
It is the zones.
Many elderly people were more lost than I was.
We need words, clearer signs and directions.
e.g Zone?
Blood Tests or X-rays.... in addition to the zone letter.
People I talked to agreed with me.
Also asked about the hot desking as well as lack of staff rooms and staff cafe. A terrible mistake.
I once worked in a new building, not NHS, where these things did not exist.
We won on the hot desking though. . It seems to me that the comfort of staff was not always considered in the design of this building.
Happy staff are more important in creating a good hospital than beautiful buildings
One last point which you could probably do something about.
The W8 drop off point is now a much longer walk to the new building.
People with difficulty walking had a problem. Could the bus company be asked to arrange for a bus stop in a more convenient place More exterior signs to the new building would also be helpful.
"Faults in the building"
